Do you want your wedding as newlyweds to be remembered not only by you, but also by your wedding guests? Would you like to entertain your guests after the wedding ceremony as well? In addition to delicious food, great drinks and unique music at the wedding, don't forget about wedding games. In order not to worry too much about organizing the wedding and to enjoy your wedding day properly, ask your witnesses to invent and organize wedding games.
These activities are not only suitable for outdoor weddings, but also for indoor weddings where you can make room for movement or other grouping of guests to play games. Wondering what games can be invented? Would you like to add a few fun games to your wedding program? If so, check out these tips for wedding games that will keep your guests entertained and keep your day tuned on a pleasant and cheerful note.
Wedding games for newlyweds
As newlyweds, you'll be the focal point of the whole wedding day. That's why it tends to be customary to organise the first games just about the two of you. There are several games. We take a closer look at the wedding quiz, the garter removal, the egg journey and the newlyweds in the kitchen.
But if you'd like to include your bridal party more, all of the games can be adapted. You can create a bride and groom team, or create pairs of bridal party members to compete against the newlyweds.
Wedding Quiz
The shoe lifting game is one of the most popular wedding games ever. The newlyweds sit back to back in the middle of the room. Each has one of their shoes and the other's shoe. The best man or a wedding guest acts as a moderator and asks the newlyweds questions, which they answer by lifting one of their shoes. This allows the guests to get to know the newlyweds better and ask fun and tricky questions.
Get inspired by our few suggestions for wedding quiz questions:
- Who said "I love you." first?
- Who is the better dancer?
- Who's a better cook?
- Who takes longer in the bathroom?
- Who's the first to apologize after an argument?
- Who's the better driver?
- Who's the better brothel keeper?
Even if the wedding party doesn't directly participate in the game, they will laugh as they gradually learn the answers and the truth about how you perceive your relationship and yourself.
Removing the Bride's Garter
Part of the bride's wedding dress is usually a garter, often because of the wedding tradition of having something blue. The groom is tasked with removing this garter using his teeth without using his hands within a time limit. Music can be played as a time limit and once the music is over, the result will be known. You are guaranteed to have fun with this game together and with your guests.
Egg Journey
To make it not only difficult for the groom, the bride will also have a difficult task. The main role will be a boiled egg, which the bride has the task of pushing through the groom's pants from one leg to the other, to complete the task as quickly as possible and without breaking. For a more interesting flow of the game, you can tell the bride that it is a raw egg, even if you have cooked it.
Newlyweds in the kitchen
Test the newlyweds' knowledge of the kitchen. Blindfold the newlyweds and have them taste the dishes from the wedding reception. You can choose the wedding cake, the one-dish meal or the different sauces. The newlyweds will guess by taste and whoever gets the most right wins.
Catering TIP: As part of the preparation of your wedding venue together with the catering, whether in the form of a wedding buffet or wedding menu, we will be happy to prepare dishes for the purpose of wedding games. You will have everything ready and you will not have to wonder what to give the newlyweds to taste.

Wedding Games for the Wedding Party
Don't let your guests just sit and watch. Plan wedding games for the wedding party. There are a variety of games, but we'll mention the most played and popular ones.
Wedding Raffle
A wedding raffle is a lot of fun, plus you can collect some of that money. Let your guests know not to just put the money in the wedding gift and save some amount for the wedding raffle. Create a short and funny list of prizes to be won.
We've got some tips on what a prize list might look like:

Year with the newlyweds
Let your guests compete for pre-arranged tasks. Select 13 guests to face 12 tasks. One will drop out each round as the number of chairs gradually decreases. The guests who drop out will receive an envelope with a task for the newlyweds to complete. The last one left, and therefore the winner, will in turn be invited somewhere by the newlyweds as a reward.
What the tasks may look like:
- Get someone else's tie/butterfly
- Get someone else's shoe
- Eat a snack
- Bring a flower
- Find something red
- Get a piece of jewelry
- ♪ Bring the cutlery ♪
- Get a five-crown

The task envelopes are then organised by month and the activities that can be done in that month.

Wedding Carriage
Another more traditional wedding game is the wedding carriage, which can really get the party going. You'll need a few chairs, helpers and alcohol. The chairs are arranged in the shape of a royal carriage. So there are 2 horses in the front, the coachman sits behind them, and the king and queen sit in the carriage, which is framed by 4 wheels. So in total you'll need 9 wedding guests and the newlyweds as the royal couple, as well as a narrator and a couple of guests to keep an eye out for mistakes.
The bridal party will divide the roles: left/right horse, coachman, left/right front wheel and left/right back wheel. You can also add two more bridal party members for the role of stones. Everyone will then stand up on their name and possibly other designated words to stand up on. If any of the participants make a mistake they must drink a shot of alcohol.
Instructions with the words the participants are to rise to:
- Left horse: left horse, horses.
- Right horse: right horse, horses
- Carriage: coachman, horses, carriage
- King: king, royal, carriage
- Queen: queen, royal, carriage
- Left front wheel: left front wheel, wheels, front wheels, carriage, stones
- Left rear wheel: left rear wheel, wheels, rear wheels, carriage, stones
- Right front wheel: right front wheel, wheels, front wheels, carriage, stones
- Right rear wheel: right rear wheel, wheels, rear wheels, carriage, stones
- Stones: carriage, stones, potholes
Royal story:
Once upon a time there was a small kingdom that stretched beyond picturesque streams full of stones, valleys and forests. In this small kingdom lived a wise king and a beautiful queen. One beautiful and sunny day, the queen decided that she would like to take a ride around their picturesque kingdom to the royal gardens.
The king said to his queen, "King, my beloved king, my brave and wise king, I'd like to take a ride around our kingdom, call a coachman." The king said to his queen, "Are you sure, my dear queen? It's raining, and the roads are full of rocks and potholes, but have it your way. Let's go see how our kingdom is doing."
So he called to the coachman. "Coachman, my dearest coachman, my dearest coachman, prepare a carriage for your king and queen, and bring the horses out of the stable. Harness the horses before the carriage, and check the right hind wheel and the left front wheel to see that they hold well, lest they break as we ride through the woods over stones and potholes. For the king and queen wish to ride out of the castle.
The coachman didn't dawdle long and went to the stables. He checked both horses and brought them out. Then he hitched up the carriage and the coach. But just to be sure, he checked everything again. First he went to check the left horse, then he went to the right horse, and he also checked the left front wheel, the left rear wheel, the right rear wheel and the right front wheel. When the coachman was sure for the second time, he called out, "King, my dear king, your royal carriage and coach are ready. So the king and queen got in and went to see their kingdom.
They passed by ponds and large meadows and roads full of stones. Suddenly the queen said, "My brave king, I am afraid. What if the royal carriage does not last? We are going over stones and potholes and we are getting heavier and heavier." Then the king replied to his queen, "My beautiful queen, my dearest queen, don't be afraid of anything. The carriage has had both back wheels replaced and both front wheels also. Moreover, our two horses are the best in the whole kingdom." The queen sighed and said, "Well, I am calmer now."
But in a little while the queen asks the king again, "My dearest king, ask the coachman if the horses have had enough oats." The king calls to the coachman, "Coachman, hey, coachman, are the horses fed?"
But the queen is still full of worry, so after a short time she says to the king, "My dear king, my brave king, my dearest king, my most beautiful king, I think the left front wheel is throwing." Suddenly there is a crash that jerks the carriage as well, because the right front wheel has hit a rock. The king calls to the coachman, "Coachman, what happened?" "I have no idea, king," the coachman replies, "but I hope you and the queen are all right." The king and queen nodded that they were.
The coachman immediately jumped down from the carriage and went to check it. First he checked the right horse and then the left horse. He was not sure, so he checked the left horse again and then the right horse. Then he went to the right front wheel, the right rear wheel, checked the right front wheel again, then the left rear wheel, the left front wheel, and the left rear wheel again. He found nothing, so he went to the king and said, "King, my beloved king, everything is fine, the carriage and the coach. We must have run into a hole or on a rock.
So the king and queen settled back into their carriage, and the king again told the coachman to keep on driving and to return slowly to the castle. So the coachman jumped into the carriage and urged both horses on. At first the left horse was not very willing, but the right horse persuaded him to pull in the same way. So the carriage and coach started off again. After a few turns and passing trees lining the road to the castle, they arrived at their kingdom. The king and queen got out of their carriage and thanked the coachman for a good ride.
Fun for children at the wedding
Even the little ones shouldn't be forgotten at the wedding and during the evening entertainment. After the wedding reception is over or the last dish on the wedding menu has been finished, let the little ones into the children's corner. You can set up a few tables where the children can find crayons and various wedding make-ups, wedding figure eights or a wedding maze.
